About batches
By small business, for small business
After years running her own non-storefront pastry business, Batches Bakehouse founder, Hannah, decided that her hometown of Pittsburgh needed a solution for many unanswered needs of small artisan food-based businesses. Sure, there are a number of shared commercial kitchens in the area; but none that are catering to the specific needs of the growing community of small and nascent businesses of ambitious bakers, charcutiers, and other specialty food producers; those that are running side businesses with plans to grow into a fulltime careers and/or have no need for a storefront, but need more space, efficiency and resources than they have at home or alternatively.

Our goal is to not only provide a certified, clean, inviting space for small food-based businesses to have a base of operations, but allow them to grow, expand their offerings, and build their own network and community within the emerging movement of self-taught and non-storefront businesses. We aim to offer a welcoming space for business owners and their staff who don't want to use their home address for pick-ups, who aren't quite ready to make the leap to their own brick and mortar shop, who want a venue to host classes and events for the public and their clients, and who are interested in building a network of creative, ambitious business owners to lift each other up and encourage the Pittsburgh region to support small and local.

Who we are:
Batches Bakehouse is made up of vibrant, ambitious businesses changing the way small and solopreneur businesses are being seen. The Bakehouse admin team is the duo making sure they have a kitchen to call home:

Hannah is the creator of Batches and in charge of onboarding members and day-today ops. She has a list ten miles long of all the elements she wants to bring in to benefit the member businesses and is looking forward to the next few phases of the Bakehouse community's growth.
Chris, the Chief Bean Counter, is in charge of finances (the aforementioned beans) and helps ensure back end ops are fully opping and making sure he looks cool in shades. But seriously, this midwestern-born numbers guy is available to help our members with questions on all the boring stuff... and Uranium.
